Digital Software Engineer- Sr


  • C Programming of firmware
  • Visual Basic programming of test and development graphical user interfaces
  • Support of existing embedded projects including: Microchip PIC 17C756A, Phillips 8051, and Motorola DSP56F807, TI 2812
  • Design of new embedded systems with Motorola DSP56F807, TI 2812 and other processors/DSP’s as required
  • Digital system design including ADC's, DAC's, UART's, RS-485, RS-232, embedded Ethernet, USB, microcontrollers, DSP’s, RAM, SRAM, EEPROM, Configurators, switching low-voltage power supplies, pulse-width modulation devices, discrete logic, FPGA’s.
  • May require support of existing Xilinx CPLD and FPGA designs
  • May require design of new CPLD and FPGA designs using both Xilinx and Altera - VHDL and Verilog
  • Travel is sometimes required to resolve problems at customer's sites
  • Interface with customers to understand their requirements / problems
  • Document / update specifications based on actual work done.
  • Create specifications
  • Create ECN’s and perform change support
  • Perform design verification testing and documentation
  • Support manufacturing and test groups
  • Interface with analog engineers, project leaders, and project managers
  • R&D of new products / technologies
  • Stay current on new technologies
  • Attend vendor sponsored seminars and workshops
  • Use emulators, debuggers, JTAG, integrated development environments, and other design and verification tools
  • Perform version control of firmware and software
  • Design test and development fixtures
  • Create programming procedures
  • Flashing of engineering prototype boards
  • Perform in depth failure analysis, both hardware and firmware for the product
  • Must be independent with strong analytical skills, creative thinking and be self-motivated
  • Review printed circuit board layouts and recommend improvements
  • Participate in internal design reviews to ensure accurate and timely completion of designs and documentation
  • C/C++ Programming of firmware
  • Perform hardware / firmware architecture design
  • Design messaging protocols
  • Perform problem solving and mentoring of non-senior engineers
  • Evaluate and recommend alternate designs
  • Perform advanced research and development of new technologies
  • Provide assistance in project estimation and planning
  • Design with real-time operating systems
  • Understand the customer’s requirement and translate them to engineering specifications needed for product development
  • Work as a member of a technical team in the resolution of complex system integration problems


  • Minimum of BS/BT EE or equivalent 4 year degree
  • At least 8 years of relevant embedded systems design experience
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills


Working conditions are normal for an office environment.  Must be able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods; able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis; able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone.
